Why clinics, allergists and pharmacies switch to Western Allergy
Transfers take one fax. Build-up sets bridge patients off bulk allergen. Sets ship in one to two weeks, priced to compete with volume discounts, and most patient plans can be billed directly through our partner pharmacy.
For licensed healthcare professionals. Allergen extracts, testing supplies and immunotherapy sets are prescription products dispensed under the authorization of a licensed prescriber. Allergen immunotherapy, including oral mucosal, oral and sublingual immunotherapy for food allergy, carries a risk of allergic reaction, including anaphylaxis; initiate and supervise therapy per the product labeling and your clinical protocols. Dose tiers reflect available options and do not constitute a dosing recommendation for any individual patient. Confirm current regulatory status and product information before prescribing.
Ten reasons practices move their prescriptions to us
- Custom name-patient compounds, not bulk vials
- Every SCIT, SLIT and venom set is compounded to the patient's prescription, labelled to the patient, and shipped ready to use. No in-clinic mixing, no dilution arithmetic, no half-used bulk vials expiring on the shelf.
- 1 to 2 week turnaround
- Custom sets ship within one to two weeks of a complete prescription, Canada-wide, from Victoria BC, Hamilton ON and St. John's NL. Refill requests can be submitted online by the patient or the clinic.
- Competitive pricing with volume discounts
- Testing extracts, DuoTip devices, controls and immunotherapy treatment sets are priced to compete with any Canadian supplier, and volume-based discounts are available for clinics and pharmacies. Send us your current price list and we will quote against it.
- Transfers in one fax
- Send the current prescription or formulation and we match it. Patients keep their schedule; the clinic keeps its protocol.
- Build-up sets to transition from bulk allergen
- Moving a patient from clinic-mixed bulk extract? We supply build-up sets that bridge the transition, so the switch does not restart the patient.
- Direct billing of most patient plans
- Where the patient prefers, our partner pharmacy, Clearpoint Pharmacy, bills most private drug plans directly for prescribed products, and the patient pays only what the plan does not cover. Ask which products qualify.
- The full range from one supplier
- SCIT allergy shots, SLIT allergy drops, venom immunotherapy, UF Dog SLIT and SCIT, dietary immunotherapy (TPIT allergy toothpaste, peanut and cashew SLIT drops), DuoTip skin-test devices, testing extracts and positive and negative controls.
- Customer service you can reach
- A toll-free line answered by people who know the product, Monday to Friday, and a named contact for every clinic account. Fax-friendly order forms for practices that prefer them.
- Patient tools that reduce your calls
- Patients pay invoices, send insurance information and request refills online. AllergyPath, our free app, keeps them on schedule; ResQBand covers the epinephrine emergency page.
- Since 1972, family-owned, made in Canada
- First in Canada to offer SLIT and SCIT as custom name-patient prescription compounds; participated in Canada's first SLIT clinical trial in 2001. No border, no customs delays, no exchange-rate surprises.
How the three ways of supplying immunotherapy compare
Most Canadian practices either mix patient sets in clinic from bulk extract, order name-patient sets from Western Allergy, or order from a supplier outside Canada. The comparison below is from our own experience with clinics that have made the switch; the right column varies by supplier, so ask us to quote against a specific one.
| Mixing in clinic from bulk | Western Allergy | Supplier outside Canada | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who prepares the patient set | Clinic staff mix from bulk vials | Compounded to the prescription and shipped ready to use | Varies; often US-based, cross-border shipping |
| Staff time per patient set | 30 to 60 minutes of nursing time, plus documentation | None | None |
| Inventory and expiry | Bulk vials on hand; unused extract expires | None held at the clinic | None |
| Formulation record | Clinic log | Patient-specific label and compounding record with every set | Supplier record |
| Turnaround | Same day, if stock and staff allow | 1 to 2 weeks | 2 to 6 weeks with customs |
| Build-up during a switch | Not applicable | Build-up sets supplied | Varies |
| Patient billing | Clinic invoices the patient | Online payment, or direct billing of most plans through Clearpoint Pharmacy | Patient pays, then claims |
| Pricing | Bulk extract cost plus staff time | Competitive per set; volume discounts | Quote on request; currency and duties apply |
| Support | In house | Toll-free, named contact, online refill and insurance tools | Varies |
